Slip Video Update

It's been sometime since I posted anything here. Just wanted to let everyone know that all the video parts have been edited, and all that remains is the introduction, credits, and friends section. I gotta shoot some last second stuff, but other than that we just need a venue and its on. We are shooting for a time around January or February (I'd like to see January happen). I know there hasn't been much on the gun as of the last couple months, but thats because we've been busy editing (hoarding...lol). Thanks for the patience and hope to make the official premiere announcement by early January.

A couple of weeks back we went out to Livermore, CA to check out a friend of ours new skate project "Wasted Talent" which was amazing. For those of you who love skateboarding as much as we at the gun do, it is a must watch. It is now available on vimeo.

A couple of Stockton heads made it into the friends section so I'm gonna post that for you to love. Check it out, comment, then go watch the other parts!

If you are not familiar with The Mighty Grand, they are the company that decided to make the Riding Shotgun t-shirts earlier in the year. They definitely didn't have to make the shirts, but the shirts were made because the company saw something good was happening in this city. They supported our local skate scene, so go support them! Loons and Tycoons Teaser 2010

Vince Salvi and company have been telling me quite a bit about this project for a couple months now. There is just too much good stuff in this trailer for me to talk about. All the talk and hype was well worth it. This is a teaser? Damn near 9 minutes, and it's a teaser??? When the full one drops, its gonna be epic for sure...

Full Length Skatespot209 Video Teaser

Mr. Ivyn Taasin is going to be a busy man. With his regular duties at the daily grind and filming for the daily grind video, he dropped this teaser for an upcoming video project. I seriously wouldn't sleep on this project. Ivyn has dropped vids in the past and good ones at that. I don't know if you all remember hot sauce, but Terry Silasack did have a really good full part in that video. There's quite a few heads in this video that have been in the site already, but i'm personally looking forward to Clifford's part in the end. (that kid some nasty pop for a little dude.)

Double Dose of Geddy

Yup thats two D's (not T's) for a double dose of that pimpin!

If you've seen Getty skate in person, you already know how mind blowing the dude is. Brandon keeps it fast, controlled, and stylish at all times. I'm pretty psyched that i get a chance to skate with this dude on a regular basis; pro or not pro, this dude is one of my favorites to watch.

The fist dose is a short clip filmed by Getty's little (but huge, Ivan Drako lookin dude) brother Cameron. Simple but stylish clip. I'm sure this thing off the side of the road was pretty sketch to skate.

Agor & Laniohan

I've been filming with these two dudes quite a bit lately. Its always a pleasure to run into these guys on any given day.

Agor just seems to charge everything that is in front of him in the most awkward fashion possible. Think about the scariest awkward trick you can do on any given obstacle and Agor more than likely is on it. When Kenny gets that throwaway going you will see how good this dude really is. Then later this year when the Loons and Tycoons video drop, you'll probably get your face melted off.

Anthony is just good. I really can't think of any witty or interesting way to put it. This dude is just tech for no reason everyday. The dude has Natural talent and drive, a combination that is pretty hard to go wrong with. I've been filming with Ant almost every three days, he's got some stuff up his sleeve, but you'll see that later.

enjoy.

Respect your city

By Jonathon "Bighead" Rezonable

In recent memory, I cannot remember a time where someone didn't complain about a spot.

Usually I hear people say any spot is too small, too boring, you don't have a trick for this, played out, but the worst excuse ever is; the spot is not worth filming on. I can remember a time not too long ago when just being a skateboard was enough. We didn't have the luxury of driving spot to spot, but we got where ever we needed to on those same flat spotted four wheels. The whole city was just one huge skate spot. There was joy in a simple ollie of a curb, or pushing as fast as possible down the street. No ipods, no obnoxious shop beef, just friends cruising spot to spot.

Another thing I hear to frequently, is kids not going for broke until they go out of town. It seems as though everyone is in a great big hurry to leave town and get gnarly. The problem is not much has gone down on the gnarly spots we have already. To my knowledge, the gnarliest thing to go down the California gap has probably been Xavier's laser flip (that is at least what was rumored). Why not a switch bigheel, switch tre, or nollie tre? Can anyone tell me why Janoski and Worrest are getting footage at spots before the locals?

We have spots here and quality spots at that. Off the top of my head I can name Kohl, Wilson Way Ledge, Bank of America March Lane, Eight Mile barrier spot, California gap, St. Marks Plaza double set, Edison High, Stagg High, Lincoln High, Courthouse, Secret Brookside ledge, Ladds Pole Jam, Creekside Stage (ledge), Crackhead banks, Delta Sierra five rail, Bear Creek Stage and benches, etc. and do I really need to bring up Mcnair? That place is amazing.

I know there is the argument that a lot has been done at these spots. True, but the real problem is way more can be done on these spots, and its up to the skateboarders in this city to push skateboarding to that place where some really crazy things is being done on these spots. The problem is, kids are doing all their "go to" tricks at these skateparks, and saving all the really crazy experimental stuff for the skatepark. That just feels so backward to me.

Enough is enough. Respect your city, respect your spots, and try harder at your local spots. Get comfortable and get gnarly, its just that simple. So the next time your in a hurry to pack your bags and jump in your big homie's car for the skate trip, don't do it. Skate in town, and do something more than that go to treflip.

Tales From The Road: Taylor's B-day

This was by far one of the funnest trips in recent memory. We met fairly early in the morning and met and Kenny's house. From there we set sail for Modesto in search of chill vibes, vices, and a good sesh.
After a 45-minute drive we arrived in Modesto and set-up for our first session. We ended up in a very well covered ledge in the industrial district of the city. Upon arrival we saw Joe Sudduth and some of the Street Science heads from Tracy already filming stuff really gnarly stuff. Those guys are always good for chill session so we stuck around and got ours.
After about an hour or so of skating, the "festivities" began. After a couple brews and blunts the group was loose. The rest of the day included a couple more ledge spots, plenty of soccer circles, a gnarly rail nobody wanted to skate, pizza, and rick going for broke on a drunk firecracker.

you really can't ask for much more on any trip, peep the photos:

so young, so much style

It's been so fun to watch this kid grow up. When I first met Austen he was this little grom that tried so hard. He would try so hard, and sometimes he came up short. No matter what he still had the best attitude whether he landed it or not. Now when I watch Austen it's totally different. Though he still hasn't even come close to growing into his body he looks carefree and comfortable on a skateboard. More comfortable than I could ever hope to be. He kills whatever is in front of him with biggest smile on his face. The type of smile that exudes confidence and pure enjoyment. You can tell he just enjoys being out there on his skateboard.

Dipped.

old spots, young dudes.

It really sucks being hurt. Especially when the weather is perfect for skateboarding. Instead of mopping about the weather and my bum ankle, I decided to meet up with some friends. I also decided I'd pick up a couple of the young dudes to take them to some spot they may have never skated.

The old dudes will notice this spot right away. It used to be called the Barnes and Noble ledge, but these days its the "world market ledge." It was really dope to see the young guys skating such a vintage spot. I'm sure Ras Boi has some quality commentary and background on all the gnarly shit that went down on this ledge.

I've heard legends of Nick J getting in on this spot, but then again there isn't too many spots that dude hasn't left a mark on.

Thanks to Corey, Jesse, and Nate for the good sesh. My mom hella bought them pizza.
